Karla + Nils – Summer wedding with ceremony at Beckmannshof & reception at Waldhaus Bochum

There are weddings that feel incredibly relaxed from the very first moment. No hustle and bustle, no rigid routines – instead, plenty of time for the people who are most important to you. That's exactly how Karla and Nils' wedding day was.

For their humanist wedding ceremony, the couple chose the beautiful Beckmannshof in Bochum. The reception was then held at the Waldhaus Bochum – two venues that perfectly suited their desire for a personal and relaxed wedding.

An emotional first look

Even before the first guests arrived, the day began with a very special moment. Together we had planned a first look, during which Karla and Nils could see each other for the first time on their wedding day.

For many couples, these first few seconds are among the most emotional of the entire day. The excitement slowly gives way to anticipation, and suddenly months of planning become reality. It was a quiet, intimate moment that the two consciously wanted to experience only together.

Wedding couple photoshoot before the ceremony

Immediately afterwards, we used the beautiful scenery around the Beckmannshof for the bridal couple's photo shoot.

Many couples now consciously choose to have their portraits taken before the wedding ceremony. The big advantage: After the ceremony, there's significantly more time for family, friends, and the celebration. At the same time, the photo shoot takes place without any time pressure – relaxed, natural, and with plenty of room for genuine moments.

It's particularly important to me that the shoot doesn't feel like a photo shoot. Instead of lots of instructions, I allow space for movement, conversation, and small moments that create authentic images.

Free wedding ceremony at Beckmannshof

The humanist wedding ceremony was personal, emotional, and full of loving details. Between moving words, heartfelt laughter, and a few tears of joy, an atmosphere was created that perfectly reflected the day.

With its historical charm and spacious outdoor areas, Beckmannshof offers a beautiful setting for outdoor weddings and is one of the special wedding locations in the Ruhr area.

Celebration at the Waldhaus Bochum

After the wedding ceremony, everyone went together to the Waldhaus Bochum. There, they toasted, laughed, and celebrated until late into the evening.

As with any wedding reportage, my focus isn't solely on the major events. Often it's the small encounters in between – warm hugs, a quick glance, or a spontaneous laugh – that make a wedding day so precious later on.

Golden Hour – the magic of evening light

Just before sunset, we took a few minutes to say goodbye to the celebration. The warm light of the golden hour created a very special atmosphere and lent the pictures a timeless elegance.

After an eventful day, the excitement has long since faded. It is precisely then that the most natural photos are often taken – calm, authentic, and full of intimacy.

Personal vows as an emotional conclusion

After our short sundowner photoshoot, Karla and Nils took a private moment for themselves. Away from the celebration and away from the hustle and bustle, they read their personal vows to each other.

No audience, no microphones, and no outside expectations. Just the two of them and their own words.

It was the perfect end to a wedding day that was characterized from beginning to end by peace, trust and genuine emotions.

A wedding full of lightness and genuine moments

Karla and Nils' wedding once again demonstrated the value of a well-planned day. An emotional first look, the couple's photoshoot before the ceremony, a relaxed, humanist ceremony, many hours spent with family and friends, a short photoshoot in the warm evening light, and finally, the very personal vows – all of this made this day truly special.

Thank you so much, dear Karla and dear Nils, for letting me be a part of your special day. I wish you all the happiness in the world for your life together.

If you are also looking for a natural, timeless and unobtrusive wedding reportage, I look forward to learning your story.
