Frequently
Asked Questions
Every wedding is unique, but there are always questions and topics that concern almost every bridal couple.
In this section, I would like to answer some of these questions directly, and I hope it is helpful for you and your planning.
First-Look?

There are those who decide at the last minute and sometimes find a wedding photographer 1-2 months before the wedding, but that is definitely rare and usually only works if you don't want to get married between May and September and your wedding doesn't take place on a Friday or Saturday.
Normally, I'm booked as a wedding photographer at least 6 months in advance – most people even book about a year in advance. Dates like September 19, 2019, are naturally very popular and often booked multiple times (I can only offer dates once, but sometimes receive more than 4-5 inquiries for certain dates).
My process would be as follows: you would first send me an inquiry with your preferred date, and if the date is still available, I would then provide you with a price list outlining my rates and services. If booking is generally an option for you, we would meet in person or arrange a video call (if distance makes an in-person meeting too difficult) before a binding offer is made. Since we will be spending several hours together on your wedding day, I think it's important that we get along and have a good rapport. During our initial meeting, we would discuss your wedding plans in general terms, and I can (usually) offer helpful tips for your planning, as I have considerable experience.
How expensive is a wedding reportage and why are many wedding photographers so expensive?

Every wedding is planned and priced individually (together with you). Upon request (and if your date is still available), I will send you my current price list with my basic package and the additional options you can book. My basic package includes 6 hours of photographic coverage with approximately 350 selected and edited images, which you will receive via an online gallery.
Options I offer include a wedding trailer, a pre-shoot, all (unedited) pictures, and of course additional hours (up to 12 total hours can be booked).
I can say right off the bat that wedding photographers aren't cheap, but the prices are (usually) justified. As a wedding photographer, I'm not just there to mindlessly press the shutter button on my camera for, say, six hours straight. I plan your wedding with you, support you throughout the day, create a relaxed and fun atmosphere for the photos, and put in a lot of work before and after the wedding as well.
For your information and to give you a rough idea: a 6-hour wedding shoot takes me at least 14 hours in total. This includes 1-2 hours of preparation/preliminary meeting/planning, 6 hours of shooting (usually including at least 1 hour travel time), and finally at least 6 hours for selecting the photos, post-processing, and creating the online gallery. So, it's a lot of work that you might not even notice. ;-)

As a professional wedding photographer, I leave nothing to chance and meticulously ensure I have at least two of everything in my bag! In addition to my two main cameras, I even carry a backup that I could use if both (!!!) cameras fail on your wedding day – so you'll definitely get photos! ;-) As an extra precaution, I always make sure my cameras have two SD cards in them and that the photos and videos are always backed up to both cards simultaneously. This means that even if one SD card fails, I still have a complete backup on the other card. Some wedding photographers only bring one camera to your wedding without a backup – it might work out, but it doesn't have to. I find that negligent and too risky. The moments of your wedding are unique and irreplaceable – there are no second chances, and that's why your equipment simply has to be perfect.

I probably can't answer this point to your complete satisfaction, but I also want to be honest. You're booking me as an individual for your wedding, meaning I'm not part of a team where a cancellation can be covered. You need to be aware of this and, unfortunately, you'll have to accept this risk.
On the other hand, I haven't yet had a cancellation where the couple was left without a photographer. There was one instance where I canceled a wedding because it was scheduled for the period when my second daughter was due to be born. However, I immediately recommended alternatives to the couple and had already checked with these photographers beforehand to ensure they were available on that day. So, it wasn't "so bad" for the couple, and they still got beautiful pictures – albeit from a different photographer. ;-) I would always do the same – if I have to cancel, I always offer alternatives, although of course, this isn't a guarantee if your wedding is on a popular date. In the case of a "normal" illness, I would always take enough medication to be able to attend your wedding – so I will always do my utmost to ensure you have no problems.
